Itineraries
Day 1
Arrival in Girona
There is plenty to see and do in this magical historical city. Spend the day visiting the Cathedral, which has the broadest single nave of Gothic architecture in the world and getting lost through the narrow streets of the ancient Jewish quarter, one of the best preserved in the world. We also recommend a stroll along the Rambla or the medieval walls, which gives you a fantastic panoramic view of the city.
Day 2
Girona ~ Sant Feliu de Guixols (45km)
The cycle takes you straight to the Mediterranean Sea, following the greenway “El Carrilet”. Just out of Girona, the route passes the coloured houses of Onyar River as well as numerous small Catalan villages. The Gavarres Massif provide an imposing backdrop, a mountainous forested area, consisting mainly of oaks, important for the cork production. Your destination is the Mediterranean and the town of San Feliu de Guíxols.
Day 3
Sant Feliu de Guixols ~ Calella de Palafrugell (30 km)
Today you cycle North along the coast visiting the main port town Palamós. You’ll pass the unspoilt cove Platja de Castell, before arriving in the picturesque old fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell, one of the pearls of Costa Brava. On the last section you’ll cycle along the greenway called “Ruta del Tren Petit”, connecting Palamós and Palafrugell , with its amazing coastal town.
Day 4
Calella de Palafrugell ~ Torroella de Montgri (29 km)
You continue North hugging the coastline, visiting places of outstanding interest: Pals, with its beautifully conserved medieval centre, and Torroella de Montgrí. You cycle through natural wetlands with extensive rice fields and long sandy beaches ending at the foot of the karstic Montgri Massif.
Day 5
Torroella de Montgri ~ Girona (27/34 km)
Your final day on the bike follows the Ter River finishing at the city of Girona, through a woody and agricultural area in the countryside, with a rolling landscape and small villages. Optional short cut from Flaçà train station to Girona, on a 15 minutes ride by train to Girona.

Everything worked out really well on our Girona cycling holiday. We liked our bikes, the route and the scenery. Primarily off road, which was great. Lots of happy memories,
Valerie & Robin Morton (Girona)
We had an absolutely marvellous time! Really enjoyed the cycling. We are absolute converts to the idea of cycling holidays and are hoping to do something more challenging next year. Thanks for all your help.
Eamonn Farrell (Girona Costa Brava self led)
We had a great trip to the Costa Brava. Everything was very good. The route we cycled was lovely and the hotels and food were excellent. We would definitely do a Cycling Safaris Trip again. The bikes were fine too.
